as though

as though the gifts brought to the temple
were destroyed by the priestesses
with the useful pieces stuffed into
pockets of their robes
and doors close before entering

as though not good enough to celebrate
to worship the goddess and life
gathering the remains from the ground
and stepping on the path
feeling a little demystified about the sacredness of it all

as though thirst cannot be quenched
diving into the deep murky pools
to saturate the body
calling upon the healing of tears
rivers flow through breath
swift and hard like the spring waters

as though a rainbow will always come
after the strongest storms
and clear away the darkness
the waiting to pass, to vaporize
into the healing mystery
that is me.
